Detroit Shock News Release

Auburn Hills, MI - Detroit Shock Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Bill Laimbeer announced today that the Shock have signed two-time WNBA All-Star guard Deanna Nolan to a two-year contract extension. Per team policy, financial terms of the agreements were not released.

Nolan, entering her sixth season in Detroit, is a two-time WNBA All-Star (2003, 2005) who paced the Shock in scoring last season in leading the team to its third consecutive postseason berth. Detroit originally selected the Flint, Michigan native with its first round selection (No. 6 overall) in the 2001 WNBA Draft. Nolan is the Shock's career leader in three pointers made (172) and taken (505), scoring (1,853) and steals (206).

Nolan's signing brings Detroit's training camp roster to 11 players, nine of which are currently in camp. Off-season free agent acquisition Kedra Holland-Corn and 2006 All-Rookie performer Kara Braxton are finishing up their overseas commitments this week and will join the team on May 2.

Single-game tickets for the Detroit Shock may be purchased at The Palace Box Office and all Ticketmaster outlets by calling (248) 377-0100 or logging on to www.detroitshock.com. Detroit opens the 2006 WNBA season at Indiana on May 20 at 7 p.m. The Shock home opener is scheduled for May 24 vs. the Minnesota Lynx at 7:30 p.m.
