Detroit Shock Overseas Update - January 18

Anda Ramat Hasharon took game one from Lavezzini Parma in their Eighth-Finals match up, 86-61. Cheryl Ford scored a team-high 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the win while shooting 9 of 13 from the field. Deanna Nolan added 14 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals and former Shock forward Petra Ujhelyi chipped in with eight points and nine rebounds.

Houston Comets center Michelle Snow recorded a double-double in the loss with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Minnesota Lynx guard Chandi Jones scored 17 points and grabbed three rebounds, and former Cleveland Rockers forward Eva Nemcova had three points, six rebounds and four steals for Lavezzini Parma.

Game 2 is scheduled for Thursday, January 19.

Anda picked up two more wins since the New Year to improve to 12-0 in Israeli League competition. Pon January 9 they upended Maccabi Ramat Hen, 74-69, behind a 21-point, 12-rebound double-double from Ford and a 20-point, five-rebound performance from Deanna Nolan, Ujhelyi added nine points and six rebounds.

Former Portland Fire forward Amber Hall posted a 20-point, 11-rebound double-double for Maccabi Ramat Hen.

On January 16, Anda picked up a 97-78 win over Hapoel Haifa/Motzkin as Ford picked up another double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds, and Nolan added 19 points, three rebounds and eight assists. Ujhelyi had a double-double of her own with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Connecticut Sun guard Le'Coe Willingham just missed out on a double-double for Hapoel Haifa/Motzkin with 20 points and nine rebounds and former Lynx, Sol, Shock, Mercury and Liberty guard Tamara Moore added a team-high 22 points and six boards.

Anda's next Israeli League game is scheduled for January 26 against Maccabi Ashdod.

Plenette Pierson and Coconuda Maddaloni won the first game in their Eighth-Finals series with MBK in a squeaker, 64-61. Coconuda trailed 53-42 after three quarters, but exploded in the fourth to outscore MBK 22-8 in the period.

Pierson had a 20-point, 12 rebounds double-double in the win. Former Cleveland Rockers draft pick Jennifer Butler scored eight points and grabbed nine rebounds in the loss.

Game 2 is slated for Thursday, January 19.

After pulling to within a game of Italian League leading Germano Zama Faenza before the holidays, Coconuda has dropped three of its last four games to fall into a three-way tie for eighth place. They picked up a win in their most recent game, 61-57, over Acer Priolo as Pierson scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Former Phoenix Mercury guard Susanna Bonfiglio scored nine points and grabbed four rebounds for Acer Priolo.

Pierson's next Italian League game is scheduled for Sunday, January 22 against Centro S. Palladio Vicenza.

Ruth Riley has completed her overseas obligations with Yaya Maria Porta XI and will join the Colorado Chill for their spring season beginning in February.

Kara Braxton has completed her overseas obligations with TS Wis"a Can-Pack Kraków and is currently in exploring her options with regards to other overseas opportunities.

Barbara Farris traveled to France over the weekend to begin playing for Saint-Amand PH.
