Detroit Shock News Release

Auburn Hills, Mich. - - Atlantic Records, 13-year old recording artist, Keke Palmer, will be the halftime entertainment when the Detroit Shock host the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday, July 29 at 6 p.m. Palmer is best known for her acting roles in Medea's Family Reunion, Akeelah and the Bee and Barbershop 2: Back in Business, but is also an accomplished singer with an impressive resume.

Palmer will feature songs from her upcoming release Footworkin', due out in September.

"I'm a big movie fan, so of course I've seen Keke in Barbershop 2 and Akeelah and the Bee," said Shock All-Star guard Deanna Nolan, "but I didn't realize until recently that she was an accomplished singer also. Hopefully we'll be winning at halftime, and (Shock Head Coach) Bill (Laimbeer) won't keep us too long in the locker room so we can come out with the fans and see her perform."

Palmer most recently played the lead role in the Disney Channel Original Movie JUMP IN! and was featured on the soundtrack. She won the 2007 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture for Akeelah and the Bee, is the youngest actor to be nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award and received a ShoWest Award for Most Promising Actress.

The first 2,500 fans at the Shock game will receive a drawstring backpack, courtesy of Applebee's. As part of "Kids Sunday", there will be an outdoor clinic, where kids will have an opportunity to perform basketball drills, participate in free-throw competitions and get involved in other fun activities. Face painters will also be in the West Atrium and Comcast Pavilion.
