AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - Head Coach Mouse Davis and select players from the Detroit Fury Arena Football Team will visit elementary and junior high schools in Flint, Saginaw and Midland on Tuesday, March 19, 2002 as part of the Detroit Fury 2002 Teamwork Tour. At each school, Coach Davis and the Fury players will speak to students on the subject of how teamwork relates to every aspect of life: sports, school and at home.

"We have a growing contingency of Fury fans in the football-rich communities of Flint, Saginaw and Midland and appreciate their commitment to our team," said Coach Davis. "It is important for us, as professional athletes and adults, to get out into these communities and talk to kids about issues they are going to have to deal with. Every single member of the Detroit Fury family is committed to furthering our community involvement."

The 2002 Detroit Fury Teamwork Tour kicks off in the morning of March 19th at Anderson Elementary School in Flint. Planned is a 45-minute presentation, including a question and answer period and autograph session. The Teamwork Tour will visit Kempton Elementary School in Saginaw in the early afternoon and will finish at Jefferson Middle School in Midland. The Fury estimates that the players and Coach Davis will speak to nearly 1,200 kids on the single day, whirlwind Tour.

In their inaugural 2001 campaign, the Detroit Fury averaged just over six community appearances per month and made a total of 50 appearances over the course of the season. The team has worked with Children's Hospital, St. Joe's Hospital, the American Cancer Society, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the American Diabetes Association, the Police Athletic League (PAL) and local D.A.R.E. programs.

The Detroit Fury enter their second season in the Arena Football League in 2002. Highlights from the 2002 Detroit Fury schedule include the FREE TO FANS April 9th preseason game against the Arizona Rattlers, the home opener on May 4th against the Buffalo Destroyers and "Rumble to The Palace", a Harley-Davidson enthusiast ride to the game to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association on May 18th against the Indiana Firebirds.
