Detroit Fury News Release

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - The Detroit Fury of the Arena Football League (AFL) announced that WDIV TV4 (NBC) sports personality Fred McLeod and former Detroit Lions tight end Rob Rubick will team up in the Fury broadcast booth to call all the action on WDFN 1130 AM during the 2004 season.

McLeod, who serves as the weekend anchor on WDIV-TV4 and is the Detroit Pistons play-by-play announcer on FOX Sports Detroit, will now become the play-by-play "Voice of the Fury" for all home and road games. McLeod also hosts WDIV's weekly, half-hour sports-wrap show, Sports Final Edition, which airs on Sunday nights at 11:30 PM.

Rubick will join McLeod in the booth as a color analyst for all eight Fury home games, bringing a wealth of football knowledge to the airwaves. Rubick, who played for Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich., played for eight years in the NFL with the Detroit Lions as a tight end, from 1982-1989. Rubick has spent the last four seasons as a color analyst for the Detroit Lions on FOX Sports Net and the last five seasons in the same position for Eastern Michigan University football. Rubick is also a teacher at Lapeer West High School.

"Fred brings a great deal of notoriety to the broadcast booth and will be a recognizable voice, and face, for the Fury," said Dave Wieme, director of operations for the Fury. "Rob is a local guy who has kept his roots in the community and people can relate to him. He has done some great work since retiring from the NFL and will be a great complement to Fred during our home radio broadcasts. We also expect these two guys to do a great deal for us outside the broadcast booth, as ambassadors for the Detroit Fury."

The Fury return for their fourth season of Arena Football League action at The Palace of Auburn Hills on February 5, 2004. Season tickets for the Fury can be purchased by calling (248) 377-0100, and additional information can be found at www.detroitfury.com.
