Destroyers Fans Take A Behind The Scenes Tour Of United Football League Venue

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - Thursday, March 3, 2011 -Members of the Virginia Destroyers fan club have been given a behind the scenes look at how the Virginia Beach Sportsplex venue will shape up when the United Football League season kicks off there in August.
A group of invited fans enjoyed a tour of the venue to discover how the UFL expansion team plans to increase capacity and install the elements necessary for tailgating and pregame activities ahead of the league's third season.
"There has been an incredible buzz around the Destroyers and people are eager to see where they will sit to watch their team," said UFL Vice President of Operations BRIAN MELEKIAN. "We are making great progress with converting the Sportsplex into a UFL-style venue and wanted to share the latest information with some of the most active fan club members. One of the great assets of the Sportsplex is its versatility."
The UFL will install additional seating on the open side of the Sportsplex venue to increase capacity, which can currently accommodate 10,000 spectators, by 8,000 seats. There are also plans for suites and executive seating to be constructed in other areas of the stadium.
"This goes to show the UFL's ability to reach out to the fans like no other league," said Destroyers Fan Club President ERIC KEVITZ, who was among fans who had questions answered regarding tickets and tailgating. "The renditions of the stadium are beautiful. The Virginia Beach Sportsplex will be a great place to see UFL games."
Other considerations at the Sportsplex venue include:
* A temporary video board added to the stadium
* The potential to add to the existing lighting
* Adding wireless internet
* A parking and tailgate plan being discussed with local police
* A proposals and bid process for parking, security and food and beverage at the stadium
The Destroyers will hold a 'Select A Seat' event in April to allow season ticket holders to identify their preferred seats and there will be a specific Destroyers Fan Club seating section available.
