Montreal Impact News Release
MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact announced Tuesday that American defender, originally from Georgia, decided to return home in Washington due to family reasons.
"Due to family issues, I feel that I should be home. I'm not here mentally right now," said Zurab Tsiskaridze. "I think it would not be fair for my teammates who work hard, if I stay here. I don't want to bring negative energy and not be focused on the task. It's tough for me to leave, but it's even tougher not to be with my family. I thank the whole organization and I wish the best of luck to the team."
"It's unfortunate that he has to leave during the season because he was giving depth to our roster defensively," said Impact head coach and sporting director Nick De Santis. "However I understand his decision and I respect it. He was very loyal and honest with us. The Impact wishes him the best of luck and I hope that the situation will get better for him."
Tsikaridze had joined the Impact on February 17. In 10 games, eight as starter, he played 793 minutes of played and tallied one assist.
