Defender of the Year Returns

May 5, 2015 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) - Rochester Lancers News Release

(Rochester, NY) - The Rochester Lancers today announced the return of the Lancers Defender of the Year, "Earthquake" Jake Schindler. This will be his fifth season in a Lancers uniform.

The 27 year old from Rochester anchored the toughest and stingiest defense the Lancers have had to date. He had 14 blocks on the year, playing in 22 games and earned the team's Defender of the Year Award.

The Roberts Wesleyan grad came off a serious offseason leg injury, but still didn't miss a beat in the 2014/15 Lancers season, helping the team earn a spot in the Eastern Divisional Final against Baltimore.

"Jake is a great example of a professional," said Doug Miller, Lancers Head Coach. "He comes out to compete every day, working hard on and off the field. I'm thrilled to have him back."

28 year old Roberto Acosta will also be back in a Lancers uniform for the 2015-16 season. The defender, whose family descends from Mexico, will play his second season with the club. In his first season with the Lancers, injuries kept him off the field for most of the season. The bright newcomer was able to help the team win in both of the games he played, defeating Detroit on two occasions. The Lancers expect Acosta to be back and ready for the 2015-16 season.

Season tickets are now on sale. To order tickets, or for full player bios, visit www.rlancers.com.
