Decisive Game 3 Is Thursday at Shuttleworth

Amsterdam Mohawks News Release


After the Amsterdam Mohawks took Game 1 of the Championship Series 6-3 over Elmira, the Pioneers battled back and took Game 2 by a score of 9-7. This means that the third and final game of the Championship Series will be this Thursday at Shuttleworth Park in Amsterdam at 7:05. This winner takes all game will crown the 2013 PGCBL Champions at the end of the night. The Amsterdam Mohawks hope to successfully maintain their title defense, while Elmira hopes to raise the championship trophy to cap off the 125th season of Pioneers baseball.

Colonie native Matt Snyder (Temple) will start Game 3 for the Mohawks. Snyder was stellar all season at 5-0 with a 1.35 ERA. The lefty spent parts of the year holding the league lead in ERA but finished just short of taking the top honor this year due to not having enough innings pitched to qualify. Snyder needed 48 innings to win the league ERA crown but finished with 46.2. He last pitched in Game 1 of the Division Championship against Albany. He earned the win going 6.2 innings, allowing 1 unearned run on 5 hits with 7 strikeouts.
