The Empire has signed defensive back Tyree Robinson to their 2017 IFL roster.

*Robinson* (DB, 5-11, 200, Western Kentucky) rejoins the Empire for his third year in the IFL. During the 2016 season, Tyree finished the regular season ranked fourth on the Empire with 80 total tackles (tenth in IFL) and was second on the team with six interceptions. He also recorded ten passes defended (second on the team), forced a fumble, and had one fumble recovery.

In his IFL rookie campaign in Cedar Rapids in 2015, Robinson saw action in 13 games and recorded 59 total tackles, three tackles for loss, two interceptions, five pass break-ups, three fumble recoveries, and one forced fumble.

During his collegiate career, Robinson was a fixture in the Hilltopper's defensive secondary where he earned starting roles in all four seasons. He saw action in 48 total contests (started in 44) while recording 170 total tackles. He played his prep career at Haines City High School in Dundee, Florida.

"Tyree is the most physical defensive player in our league and possesses a unique ability to cover the pass and play the run equally," said Empire Head Coach Adam Shackleford. "He is he a big part of our success on defense, contributes on specials teams, and brings a number of intangibles on and off the field that truly make him a complete player."
