Dawgs Fall to Bandits 8-4

The Woodlands, TX - The Scrap Yard Dawgs faced the Bandits for the second game of the series.

The Bandits jumped on the board first with a single from Brittany Cervantes, followed by a double from Taylor Edwards to move Cervantes to third. Natalie Hernandez cleared the bases with a double to left center to score two runs for the Bandits (2-0).

The Dawgs answered back in the first inning, with Britt Vonk's triple to left center field and Emilee Koerner's sac fly to left to bring in Vonk (2-1). Meagan May Whitley led the second inning off with a walk and Amanda Fama dropped a bunt that resulted in an error from the Bandits defense, and both Dawgs advanced on the bases. Kiki Stokes hit a shot that tipped off the glove of Michelle Gascoigne to tie the game (2-2).

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Dawgs took the lead with an RBI single from Nerissa Myers to score Vonk from second (2-3). Shelby Turnier entered the circle for Gascoigne, but Christian Stokes was not fazed and hit a shot to center field to bring in another run for the Dawgs (2-4).

Ellen Renfroe Reed had two strikeouts and held the Bandits for five innings. Sister Ivy Renfroe entered in relief, but the Bandits tied the game in the top of the sixth with a single from Zymkowitz and a hit by pitch to Megan Blank to score Carosone from third (4-4). A wild pitch scored one more run and Sammy Marshall brought in two more runs for the Bandits (7-4). The Dawgs then entered Sara Driesenga to finish the inning.

The Dawgs struggled to make the comeback and fell to the Bandits (8-4). The Dawgs will face the Bandits tomorrow for the final game of the series at 7:30pm at the Scrap Yard Sports Complex.
