Brevard Blue Ducks News Release
Easton, PA â A day after their travel fiasco caused their game to be cancelled in Adirondack, New York, the Brevard Blue Ducks ran into a fiasco of another sort â the Pennsylvania ValleyDawgs.
Behind 23 points by Willie Chandler and 20 points and 11 assists by Kareem Reid, Pennsylvania whipped Brevard 120 to 97 and handed the Blue Ducks their first loss of the season.
The Ducks actually played the ValleyDawgs even in the first quarter, ending it down by only one, 25 to 24. Pennsylvania stretched their lead to 57-51 by the half.
But it was the third quarter when the tired Ducks showed their road weariness, getting outscored 34 to 17 and turning a close game into a romp.
Terrence Shannon and Simeon Haley, playing against former NBA center, Olden Polynice, led the Blue Ducks with 20 points apiece.
There's no rest for the weary as Brevard plays the second of their back-to-back set with Pennsylvania tomorrow night and then travels the 250 miles back to Adirondack after the game, for their match against the Wildcats on Sunday.
The team returns home Monday and gets ready to take on Adirondack on Wednesday, May 7th and again on Friday, May 9th at the Clemente Center. That's followed by games Saturday and Sunday against the ValleyDawgs. The weekend contests mark the return of Darryl "Chocolate Thunder" Dawkins to Brevard.
Duck Notes: The Blue Ducks will be hosting area schools at their games Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and are offering students two-for-one tickets. Sunday's Mother's Day contest will be "Bring Your Mom Chocolate for Mother's Day." All moms will be given free admission to see Brevard take on Darryl "Chocolate Thunder" Dawkins' Pennsylvania ValleyDawg team.
