
David Baur Named New Ruff Riders GM

ABILENE, TX. : The Abilene Ruff Riders were excited to announce from a special press conference located at the Lytle Land and Cattle Company Restaurant on Wednesday, September 16, that David Baur has been named the new General Manager of the Abilene Ruff Riders. For the last nine years (1999-2008), Baur has served as the Executive Director of TimeOut Sports, Inc. in Midland, Texas. His responsibilities while part of TimeOut Sports, Inc. included managing all special events in Citibank Ballpark, and managing the entire concession operations of Citibank Ballpark & Grande Communications Stadium. Baur additionally sold corporate and individual client packages for the Midland Rockhounds (Class AA-Affiliate of the Oakland Athletics) and the Odessa Jackalopes Minor League Hockey organization.

Before his time with TimeOut Sports, Inc., Baur was the General Manager of the Abilene Aviators Minor League Hockey organization of the WPHL from 1997-1998. His responsibilities as General Manager included management of both the revenue and profit departments. Additionally, Baur oversaw marketing, sales functions & day-to-day operations for the Aviators.
Baur was also the General Manager for the Amarillo Dillas Professional Baseball Team
based in Amarillo, Texas from 1995-1997. Baur interview, employed and supervised a staff of ten full-time employees and 35 part-time employees for the Dillas. Baur oversaw all marketing and sales functions for the Dillas including day-to-day operations.
DOCKERY AND RUFF RIDERS COME TO TERMS FOR SECOND SEASON -
In addition to front office announcements, the Abilene Ruff Riders announced on Wednesday, September 16, that the Ruff Riders and Gerald Dockery have come to terms for Dockery to lead the Ruff Riders as Head Coach for the 2010 season. Dockery will be entering his fourth season with the Ruff Riders organization and his third season as Head Coach ('07-'08 - Katy, '09-'10 - Abilene). In the Ruff Riders first season as part of the Abilene community in 2009, Dockery led the Ruff Riders to the first round of the playoffs after compiling an 8-6 regular season record. Dockery led an Abilene team that finished 14th overall in scoring offense and 7th overall in scoring defense in the Indoor Football League during the 2009 regular season.
"I am absolutely excited to be returning as Head Coach of the Abilene Ruff Riders for another season. I believe we made a positive statement in our first season as part of the Abilene community. I'm looking forward to building off our first season in Abilene and hopefully leading a championship contending team in 2010." stated Head Coach, Gerald Dockery.
Dockery began his coaching career with the Katy Ruff Riders, of the former Intense Football League, in their 2007 inaugural season as a Defensive Backs Coach. He was promoted to Defensive Coordinator after their first game of the season, and led a defense that helped register five straight wins for the team and finish the regular season at 7-7. In 2008, Dockery was announced as Head Coach of the Katy Ruff Riders and assumed the role of Assistant General Manager overseeing football operations. In '08, Dockery led Katy to a 5-9 regular season record, including a 4-4 home record.
Dockery attended Arizona Western College from 1989-1990 where he still holds the record for most yards and touchdowns in a single game at the wide receiver position (245 yards, 4 TD). He graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 1994 and played wide receiver during the 1991 and 1992 seasons. He helped the program win the Lone Star Conference Championship in '91.
Following college, Dockery moved on to the higher ranks of professional football playing for the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL in 1995. Following his time in Calgary, Dockery signed with the Houston based AFL franchise, the Texas Terror, where he played wide receiver and defensive back. Coach Dockery finds himself living by one simple quote, "I'll go anywhere, as long as it's forward."
RUFF RIDERS TO RE-SIGN FIVE KEY PLAYERS FOR 2010 SEASON -
The Abilene Ruff Riders additionally announced on Wednesday, September 16, that the organization has re-signed five key players for the 2010 season. RB Carlos Alsup, WR Juan Reese, DB Darvin Peterson, K Nick Pertuit & DL Larry Brown will all be returning to the Ruff Riders for next season.
"Each of these players that we have re-signed today have an important role on both sides of the football. I'm excited to have everyone of these players back because I believe they will help our club reach the next level for the 2010 season." stated Abilene Ruff Riders Head Coach, Gerald Dockery.
RB Carlos Alsup (6'2", 220 lbs.) Kansas State -
Running back, Carlos Alsup, is returning for his third season with the Abilene Ruff Riders after leading the Ruff Riders in total rushing yards (486) and rushing touchdowns (6) during the 2009 IFL regular season. Additionally, Alsup caught 10 receptions for 62 yards and two touchdowns. Alsup finished ninth overall in the IFL in rushing yards and he led the former Intense Football League in rushing in 2008.
WR Juan Reese (5'10", 180 lbs.) Central Oklahoma -
Juan Reese returns to the Abilene Ruff Riders after a productive 2009 regular season in the Indoor Football League. Reese finished third on the Ruff Riders roster with 37 receptions, and finished second with 486 yards receiving and 14 touchdown receptions. Reese additionally registered 33 yards rushing in 12 games played in 2009.
DB Darvin Peterson (6'0", 190 lbs.) Commerce -
Darvin Peterson returns for another season with the Ruff Riders organization after finishing third overall on the roster in 2009 in total tackles (42.5). Peterson additionally recorded one tackle for loss, one interception and collected four pass breakups. Peterson led the Ruff Riders (Katy) in total tackles and interceptions in 2008.
K Nick Pertuit (5'11", 190 lbs.) UT - San Antonio -
Kicker Nick Pertuit returns for his second season with the Abilene Ruff Riders after going 15-of-37 (40.5%) in field goal attempts for the Ruff Riders in 2009. Pertuit was 8-of-11 in field goal attempts between 20 and 29 yards. Pertuit additionally went 41-of-61 in extra point attempts and finished second overall in kicking during the '09 IFL regular season. Pertuit is the Head Coach of the Wylie High School Men's Varsity Soccer Team in Abilene.
DL Larry Brown (6'3", 345 lbs.) Rice University -
In 13 games played during the 2009 IFL regular season, DL Larry Brown recorded 17.5 total tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss. Additionally, Brown recorded five pass breakups and three quarterback hurries. Brown played a key special teams role after recording two blocked kicks in 2009 and look for Brown to be a returning starter on the defensive line in 2010.
