LAKE CHARLES - No need to even negotiate. After an exchange of smiles and a couple of hugs, Darnell Lee agreed to return to the Field of Champions in 2008 and lead the Louisiana Swashbucklers to another victorious season.
"We know a few guys have retired, but I've already heard from some great players from around the country who have watched the Swashbucklers mature in just three short seasons. Our core should return, so I'll need to fill some key positions. There will be no free rides in 2008. I'm expecting a tremendous turnout for tryouts with even better talent than last year. Players must come already in shape and ready to play. Once again, I'll schedule an open tryout in Gonzalez sometime in December to be sure we don't overlook any top Louisiana athletes", said Lee.
Owner, Thom Hager acknowledged that Lee had earned a strong raise but would not comment on the amount. "I couldn't ask for a better man to lead our team. Darnell has character, focus, discipline, integrity, and a command of indoor football, said Hager. After all, he was voted IFL Coach of the Year for two consecutive years!
