CHICAGO - Darian Jenkins of Reign FC has been voted NWSL Player of the Week for Week 21 of the 2019 season by the NWSL Media Association. The attacker scored a pair of goals within the first half of the 3-1 win, as she returned to the starting lineup.
The first goal, at three minutes, was a chip with her right foot over the goalkeeper. Most notable was Jenkins's second goal at the 12- minute mark, where she beat a defender before scoring from a near impossible angle with a shot that was just underneath the crossbar and out of reach of Orlando Pride goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris. Jenkins was efficient in her attacking play, converting both of her shots on target in the match for goals.
With four weeks left of regular season play, Reign FC sits in fifth place.
The NWSL Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis. For more information on the NWSL Media Association, follow them on Twitter.
