Dans Welcome Back Coach Sailors

(DANVILLE, IL) - The Danville Dans are looking for smooth sailing this summer as Jamie Sailors returns to lead the 2012 team.

Sailors was Head Coach of the Danville Dans in 2005 and 2006, leading the Dans to a combined 61-31 record those two seasons. He led both teams to the regular season championship in the Central Illinois Collegiate League (forerunner of the Prospect League).

Sailors has 10 years of collegiate baseball coaching experience. He has spent 5 years as an assistant coach, most recently at Purdue University (2006-08), and 5 years as a Head Coach at the University of Wisconsin Platteville.

Sailors was a 13 th -round selection by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1992 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. In 1993, Sailors finished second in the league in strikeouts while pitching for the Johnson City Cardinals of the Appalachian League.

Sailors is a product of Frontier High School in Chalmers, Ind., and earned a bachelor's from Purdue in 1999. He completed a master's in education at UW-Platteville in 2003.

Sailors and his wife, Sarah, reside in West Lafayette. The couple has three children: daughter, Madisen, and sons, Brooks and Ryne.

Joining Sailors on the Dans staff will be Trevor Hall and Jeremy Jakubowski.

Hall played at Salem International University, and has coaching experience at Murray State College. He was also an instructor and camp coordinator at The Baseball Zone, an elite level training facility in Toronto, Canada.

Jakubowski played college ball at Findlay University and Shawnee State University. He brings a wealth of summer league knowledge to the Dans after coaching last summer in the Great Lakes League.

Danville Dans are celebrating their 25 th season of summer collegiate baseball. They play in the Prospect League, a wooden bat summer college league.
