Danville Dans News Release
DANVILLE, IL - Former teammates on the 2014 Danville Dans team were selected this week in the 2015 MLB Draft.
Ronnie Jebavy, a junior centerfielder from Middle Tennessee State, was the 156th pick in the 5th Round by the San Francisco Giants. Jebavy hit .293 with the Dans, hitting 14 doubles and 5 triples while scoring 31 runs. He was fourth in the Prospect League for total stolen bases with 22, including a record seven in one game. He was a starter for the mid-season All-Star game.
Jebavy's selection in the 5th round was the highest Dans draft choice since Mason Katz (LSU, 2010 Dans) was picked in the 4th round in 2013.
UC-Santa Barbara's Paddy O'Brien was taken by the New York Yankees in the 24th Round as a right-handed pitcher. As a catcher for the Dans, he appeared in 26 games. O'Brien was a reserve on the All-Star team, and participated in the Home Run Derby.
"It's exciting when our Dans are picked in the MLB draft," said Dans managing partner Jeanie Cooke. "This draft is a continuation of the proud heritage of player development with the Dans."
Once signed, these players join over 200 Dans alumni past and present who have played professional ball - including 24 who made it into an MLB uniform.
The Danville Dans are in their 28th season of wooden bat summer college baseball. The Dans are a founding member of the Prospect League, and long-time member of the Central Illinois Collegiate League - CICL.
