
Dans Named 2021 All-Stars

(DANVILLE, IL) - The Prospect League has released it's list of post-season All-Stars and other awards, and the Danville Dans had four players on the Eastern Conference list - the most of any East team.
Those selected from Danville include:
- Cooper McMurray, first base, a sophomore at University of Kansas
- Keenan Taylor, third base, a sophomore now attending Parkland College
- Angelo Peraza, catcher, a sophomore at University of San Diego
- Jacob Leger, relief pitcher, a sophomore now at the University of Alabama.
The only other team in the league with four selections was the Western Conference Cape Catfish, who were the league champions.
In addition to the all-star selections, other league awards were presented:
The Roland Hemond Pro Prospect of the Year and Starting Pitcher of the Year is Ryan Eiermann of the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp.
The Galen Woods Fireman of the Year, given to the league's top reliever each season, is Anthony Klein of the O'Fallon Hoots.
The 2021 Mike Schmidt Player of the Year Jackson Jones of the Burlington Bees.
The 2021 Prospect League Manager of the Year, for a second-consecutive season, is Cape's Steve Larkin, who guided the Catfish to the Prospect League Championship in the team's second season.
The all-star teams and awards were voted on by the league's 16 field managers. The complete list of All-Star selections can be found at www.prospectleague.com.
The Dans are a founding member of the Prospect League, a 16-team summer collegiate wood bat league. Baseball players from across America come to Danville to improve their fielding skills and hitting with wood bats. The Dans count 29 current or former MLB players among their alumni.
