July 22, 2014 - Prospect League (Prospect)
Danville Dans News Release

(DANVILLE, IL) - Running has been the hallmark of the Danville Dans this season, leading the Prospect League with 86 stolen bases this season. On July 21, center fielder Ronnie Jebavy set a Danville single game stolen base record with seven steals during the Dans 6-5 loss at Champion City.

Jebavy - a junior-to-be at Middle Tennessee State - was two for five in the game with one walk. The lead-off hitter recorded a single in both the 1st and 3rd innings, and walked in the 4th. He stole second and then third base on subsequent pitches in all three innings, and scored in both the 3rd and 4 th. In the 8th inning, Jebavy reached on a fielders' choice, then stole second base for his record seventh steal of the game.

The previous record of six steals in one game - also a CICL record - was held by Jerome Edwards, who did it twice: July 6, 1989 and June 15, 1988.

On the season, Jebavy has consistently been in the top ten for batting average in the league, and is currently eighth at .307, while his 15 extra base hits rank sixth (12 doubles, 3 triples). He's swiped 17 bases total (tied for 2nd) while being caught just three times. He's played in 40 of the Dans 46 games - missing the first week of the season while appearing in the NJCAA Division I National Baseball Tournament with his Columbia State Community College squad.

The Dans take on the Springfield Sliders at home tonight, and return to Danville Stadium this Friday and Saturday with games against Hannibal. Game times are 6:30 pm.

Danville Dans are in their 27th season and are a member of the Prospect League, one of the premier college summer leagues in the nation. Baseball players from California, Florida, and all across the Midwest are in Danville to improve their fielding skills and batting with wood bats. With this dedication, it is no wonder that some players advance to the major leagues, including 23 former Dans players.
