
Dans Drop Division Series Opener 4-3 in 11

(DANVILLE, IL) - Danville Dans began the Prospect League Division Series at Quincy Stadium tonight, dropping the opening game 4-3 in 11 innings.
Quincy scored their first in the 5th inning after two outs. Danville came back in the top of the 6th with two runs on just one hit, a walk, a hit by pitch, and two Quincy errors.
Quincy scored two runs in the 8th inning to take a 3-2 lead.
But Danville tied the game in the 9th when Tyler Selesky (Florida Gulf Coast) scored on a Drew Buddle (Lewis University) sacrifice fly.
The Dans threatened in the 10th but left runners on the corners. Quincy scored the winning run with one out in the 11th.
Danville had just five hits, leaving nine on base. Selesky went 2-4 on the night, with a run scored. Troy Conyers (San Diego), Sam Maus (St. Olaf College), and Buddle each had an RBI.
Dans starter Spencer Herrmann (Univ. of North Florida) went 7 innings, giving up one earned run on seven hits, walking one and striking out five. Mitch Holtz (Univ. of Pennsylvania) was charged with two runs in the 8thinning. Left-hander Jared Burton (East Tennessee State) pitched the final 3.1 innings, giving up the winning run after just four hits and strking out six.
The Dans come home to play Quincy in Game 2 of the West Division Series on Wednesday night, August 7. Game time is 6:30 pm at Danville Stadium. Game 3 (if necessary) will be played on Thursday, August 8, also in Danville.
The West Division Champion will host the first game of the league's Championship Series on Saturday, August 10, with games August 12 & 13 (if needed) at the East Division winner.
