Danville Dans News Release
(DANVILLE, IL) - The Danville Dans will be in the 2021 Prospect League post season. They locked up second place in the second-half standings of the Wabash River Division following their sweep of the Lafayette Aviators on Sunday. This is the third season in a row that the Dans have qualified for the playoffs.
Danville will face Lafayette in the one-game Wabash River Division playoff. The game will be played at Loeb Stadium in Lafayette - by virtue of their winning the first half of the season - on Thursday, August 5 with a 7:00 pm EDT first pitch.
Danville still has an outside chance to be the second-half winner. Going into today, the Dans are 1.5 games behind the Aviators with each team having two games remaining. The Dans hosts the REX on Tuesday night, and travel to Terre Haute on Wednesday evening. Lafayette is playing their last two games at the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp.
The winner of the division playoff game will play the winner of the Ohio River Division Playoff game in a one-game Eastern Conference playoff on Saturday, August 7, with home field determined by the best overall record. The Eastern and Western Conference champs will meet for a best-of-three Prospect League Champion Series August 9-12.
The Dans are a founding member of the Prospect League, a 12-team summer collegiate wood bat league. Baseball players from across America come to Danville to improve their fielding skills and hitting with wood bats. The Dans count 29 current or former MLB players among their alumni.
