Dans Clinch Playoff Spot

August 4, 2019 - Prospect League (Prospect)
Danville Dans News Release

(DANVILLE, IL) - With a 6-2 victory against the Chillicothe Paints, the Danville Dans punched their ticket to the 2019 Prospect League post season. It's the second year in a row the Dans have qualified for the playoffs.

Danville will face Chillicothe in the Divisional Playoff game on Thursday, August 8. The location has not yet been determined. The Dans and Paints sit atop the East Division with identical 38-20 records.

Danville hosts Terre Haute both Monday and Tuesday evening, beginning at 6:30 pm at Danville Stadium. Chillicothe is on the road in West Virginia for their final two games. If the teams finished the season tied, Danville holds the tiebreaker by virtue of winning the season series with the Paints.

The league's two division winners will meet in a best-of-three Championship Series starting on August 10. The first game will be at the team with the lower record. Games 2 and 3 (if needed) will be at the team with the best record.

The Dans are a founding member of the Prospect League, a 12-team summer collegiate wood bat league. Baseball players from across America come to Danville to improve their fielding skills and hitting with wood bats. The Dans count 28 current or former MLB players among their alumni.
