Dans Break Stolen Base Record
August 5, 2015 - Prospect League (Prospect)
Danville Dans News Release
At the beginning of the season, Danville Dans manager Eric Coleman gave his team a goal: lead the Prospect League in stolen bases for the second year in a row.
The Dans have gone out and done that, setting a record for the most stolen bases in a season. With four bases in Tuesday night's game at Hannibal, the Dans have now pilfered 133 bases on the season. That breaks the previous high of 132 steals by the West Virginia Miners in the 2012 season.
They are 24 steals ahead of West Virginia for the league lead this year, with two games remaining in the regular season. The Dans led the league last season with 119 steals.
Leading the way for Danville are infielder Justin Bridgman (Univ of Nevada), who is second in the league with 27 swipes. Corbin Woods (Univ of Iowa) and Joey Fiske (St. Mary's College of CA) have each added 16 steals.
The Dans wrap up the regular season with two games at home against Terre Haute Rex. They cling to a 1/2-game lead for the second playoff spot.
