On being named an Assistant Coach, Niedert commented, "Danbury has been my favorite city in my professional career. I've been here on the home side as a Whaler and as an opponent a few times. It's always an incredible atmosphere and the fans are always behind the home team and like to let the visitors know that...sometimes very creatively."
