The Danbury Whalers are home this weekend. This weekend features a 2-game series vs. the Watertown Privateers on Saturday, January 25th at 7:35 pm and Sunday, January 26th at 5:05 pm. The Whalers will look to extend their first place lead in the Federal Hockey League. The Privateers are looking to move up in the standings. Last time they played the Whalers they were victorious.

This weekend will also feature various fundraising programs. On Saturday, there will be four different groups. They are - Oliver's Team, Pembroke Elementary School in Danbury and St. Gregory the Great also in Danbury. Saturday will also feature the Connecticut Association of Foster and Adoptive Parents.

Oliver's Team background is - Oliver is a 3 year old from New Milford. He was diagnosed with Late Infantile Metachromatic Leukodystrophy in May 2012. There is no known treatment or cure. Check out the organization and updates at http://oliversteam.blogspot.com/

Sunday's fundraiser is with First Congregational Church of New Milford.

Following Sunday's game, fans are invited to skate on the ice with the Danbury Whalers players. The players will be available for pictures, autographs, and couples skates.

Be sure to eat at Two Steps Downtown Grille before the game. Try the Big Juicy Danbury Whalers Burger - It's fantastic.

Park in the Patriot Garage across the street from the Danbury Ice Arena. It's safe, secure, and legal. Make sure the only ticket you get is to the game.

While at the game, stop in to The Cookhouse Penalty Box Lounge for a Pulled Pork Sandwich.

Saturday's post game party is at Billy Beans Sports Café on White Street in Danbury

Sunday's post game party is at TK's American Café on 255 White Street in Danbury.

Quality Gem Diamond Dig

Comcast Spotlight Team Up

For the 2nd straight season, Quality Gem, Comcast Spotlight, and the Danbury Whalers are offering fans a chance to take home a $3,000 diamond pendant.

On Saturday, February 8th at 7:35 PM when the Whalers take on the Dayton Demonz, fans will have a chance to participate in an on ice Diamond Dig. The fan who locates the diamond gets to take home the treasure.

Prior to that night's contest a diamond will be buried within the ice playing surface. At the end of the 2nd period, fans will be brought out onto the ice and will be given a chance to find its location.

Quality Gem in Bethel is a family owned and operated jewelry store in business since 1982. They specialize in customer service making your purchasing satisfaction their priority. Quality Gem features custom jewelry design, jewelry repair, appraisals, cleaning, engraving, financing and much more.

Skate with the Whalers After the Game This Sunday - January 26th

This Sunday, January 26th, following the Whalers 5:05 PM game against the Watertown Privateers, fans will be invited onto the ice to skate with the Whalers players.

Traditionally after every Whalers home game the players sign autographs for the fans in the lobby, but for this game fans will have a chance to put on their skates and hit the ice with the favorite men in green.

The players will be available for pictures during this event as well. So put on your skates, bring your camera and head down to the Danbury Ice Arena for what is sure to be a great event.

Fans looking to rent skates that day, can pick up a pair at the Danbury Ice Arena for $4 at the skate rental desk at the arena.

Union Savings Bank Banner Day - February 21st

The Danbury Whalers and Union Savings Bank are proud to announce the Inaugural Banner Day promotion will be held on Friday, February 21st at the Danbury Ice Arena when the Whalers take on the Watertown Privateers. Gametime is 7:35 pm.

The Banner Day promotion borrows a page from Major League Baseball and the New York Mets organization as it brings a long standing fan promotion the Mets had done from 1963 t

hrough 1996. Recently, the Mets brought back the promotion the last two seasons after a 13-year hiatus.

At the Danbury Whalers & Union Saving Bank Banner Day, fans of all ages will be asked to design and construct a banner with a message, slogan, or tribute to the team. There will be a panel of judges as well as a vote from the fans. The winning banners will take home a grand prize package courtesy of Union Savings Bank and the Danbury Whalers.

Banners will be brought out onto the ice during the 2nd intermissions for a parade and display for the fans.
