The Danbury Whalers have announced that the club has re-signed defenseman James Kirkwood and forward Carlo Ricci for the 2012-2013 Federal Hockey League season.

Kirkwood came to the Whalers in the middle of the season after a trade with 1000 Islands. He finished the regular season with 22 points, 19 of them coming with the Whalers. He tallied six goals and 13 assists while in a Whalers uniform while helping quarterback the power play. This summer Kirkwood played for the Canterbury Red Devils of the New Zealand hockey league and helped lead them to a championship. He was the leading scorer among defensemen with 24 points (10 goals, 14 assists) in just 17 games. James was also named the MVP of the Red Devils.

Ricci joined the Whalers at the beginning of the season after attending a tryout camp and making the team out of nowhere. He went on to play in 34 regular season games in his rookie season tallying five goals and six assists.

Meet the Whalers at Buffalo Wild Wings

The Danbury Whalers and Buffalo Wild Wings have announced that on Thursday, October 18th from 7 - 9 pm, there will be the 3rd Annual Meet the Danbury Whalers Team Party at Buffalo Wild Wings on 26 Backus Avenue in Danbury.

As this is the first night prior to the start of Training Camp, all camp invitee's will be in attendance. This has been one of the most heavily attended events the past two seasons as it is the first full team event on the schedule.

The event is open to all Danbury Whalers fans and will feature complimentary appetizers including the World Famous Buffalo Wild Wings throughout the evening. In addition, the Danbury Whalers will purchase your first beverage.

Meet the Whalers for Breakfast at Three Brothers Diner

On four Saturday's this season, fans will have a chance to have breakfast with the Whalers players at Three Brothers Diner on 242 White Street in Danbury. Try the Short Stack, the Danbury Skillet, or go to Benedict Heaven, it's all good when you are at Three Brothers Diner in Danbury. Open 24 hours a day and serving Danbury since 1982, Three Brothers Diner is great place to stop any time of the day.

This season on four Saturday's (12/22, 1/12, 2/16, and 3/9) Whalers fans can join the team for a pre-game breakfast session. Sit a table with your favorite players, pass the syrup, and talk about that night's game.
