Danbury Animal Welfare Society (DAWS) is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter dedicated to improving the lives of animals in the community and beyond. In 2014, DAWS is celebrating its 40th anniversary. This milestone year will be dedicated to promoting the life-saving work that DAWS has been doing over the past 40 years, while continuing to find loving homes for animals in need.

To learn more about DAWS, log onto their website at http://www.daws.org/. While there, consider registering to attend their 40th Anniversary Making a Difference Ball, their premier fundraising event, which will be held on April 12, 2014.

As part of the night DAWS will be auctioning off a Danbury Whalers Championship Banner signed by the 2012-13 team.

Sunday's fundraisers are Mill Ridge School in Danbury, Matthew's Hearts of Hope, and the Brookfield High School Robotics team.

Matthew's Hearts of Hope, Inc. (MHOH) was founded by Marie Hatcher, Mom to Matthew, to raise awareness to the number one birth defect, Congenital Heart Defects (CHDs), offer support to CHD patients and their families, as well as raise funds for research. We are an official 501 (c) (3), non profit organization with a Board of Directors comprised of four nurses, one pediatrician and two pediatric cardiologists amongst others.

In our three short years of existence, we have worked hard to not only raise money for CHD research and to help support the CHD community, but also to raise awareness and to advocate for important legislation, which will help save lives.
