Dan Named Pitcher of the Week
June 10, 2014 - Prospect League (Prospect)
Danville Dans News Release
(DANVILLE, IL) - Throwing a no-hitter no doubt helped CJ Burdick, a Danville Dans right-handed pitcher, garner the Prospect League Pitcher of the Week Award.
The University of San Diego freshman made two appearances in the week ending June 8. In addition to the no-hitter against Springfield Sliders on June 4, CJ pitched a relief stint in a game at Terre Haute on June 8. He threw 12 innings total, allowed no earned runs on just two hits while striking out 14 and walking one (the only batter to reach base in the no-hitter).
Burdick's no-hitter was the first in the Prospect League this season, and was the fifth in Dans history.
Danville Dans are in their 27th season and are a member of the Prospect League, one of the premier college summer leagues in the nation. Baseball players from California, Florida, and all across the Midwest are in Danville to improve their fielding skills and batting with wood bats. With this dedication, it is no wonder that some players advance to the major leagues, including 23 former Dans players.
The Dans are scheduled to take on Springfield Tuesday, June 10 and Quincy on June 11 before playing four on the road. Game time is 6:30 pm at historic Danville Stadium.
