D-Man Kuqali Back for Another Surge Season
August 9, 2013 - SPHL (SPHL)
Mississippi Surge News Release
Mississippi Surge defenseman Nicholas Kuqali has re-signed for the upcoming 2013-2014 regular season. Head Coach Jeff Bes and Kuqali decided to make the signing official on Thursday evening via WLOX News.
The 6-foot-2, 205 pound D-Man had a plus/minus of 12 for the Surge last season. Kuqali spent a great amount of time in both the Central Hockey League (CHL) and also the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) playing for the Bloomington Blaze, Orlando Solar Bears and also South Carolina Stingrays.
"I'm excited to be back in the Power Plant for the upcoming season," said Kuqali. "The fans are great, the weather is great and most importantly Coach Bes has a good handle on things in building a winning team both on and off the ice."
While Kuqali has been training hard this off season, Coach Bes has been hitting the recruiting trail and looks to bring in more players to lead the team to victory this season. "I believe with Nick coming back that we have begun to build a great core for next year," said Coach Bes. "We're looking for leaders in the rink, but most importantly out in the community as well and I know Kuqali carries those traits very well."
The Surge will begin their fifth season of play in the SPHL in late October. All 28 home games for the Surge will be held at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, MS.
Season Tickets are on sale now through the Surge front office. Call (228)594-3800 or go to www.mssurge.com for more information on how you can reserve your seats for the 2013-2014 regular season.
