LIFE SKILLS: As a part of a program not offered by any other minor league in any sport, the first of several Life Skills Team Awareness Meetings for D-League players begins in December. Over the course of the season D-League players will also be involved in workshops dedicated to Money Management, Nutrition, Continuing Education, Health Education, Career Education, Career Experiences and a Mentoring Program.

SEVEN ASSIGNED: Seven NBA players are assigned to D-League teams. An update on those players follows.

HOW ASSIGNMENTS WORK: The new Collective Bargaining Agreement allows for players with less than two years of NBA experience to be designated to a D-League roster. Each NBA team can designate up to two players to its affiliate. An NBA player can be assigned to the D-League up to three times per season.

NBA TV: The NBA TV crew will be at Germain Arena in Fort Myers tonight for the Florida Flame season opener against the Roanoke Dazzle. The game will air November 29 at 2 p.m. ET and on December 3 at noon.

FAMILIAR FOES: When Tulsa visits Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque tonight it will the third meeting between the 66ers and Thunderbirds in seven days. The two teams split a pair of games in Tulsa last weekend.

SAM AND JOEY: Fort Worth coach Sam Vincent and Tulsa coach Joey Meyer are the leading coaches in the D-League in winning percentage and total victories, respectively. Going into tonight's games Vincent, who coached the Mobile Revelers to the 2003 league title, has a .532 winning percentage (58-51), while Meyer's 105 total D-League wins (105-98) is three ahead of Florida coach Jeff Malone (102-98).
