Acadiana Cane Cutters News Release
TEXARKANA, Texas - After 11 innings at George Dobson Field, the Acadiana Cane Cutters took the series finale against the Texarkana Twins 11-10.
The Cutters got to work early once again by hitting three home runs in the first three innings. Kyle Bayles (Mississippi St.) kicked off the slug fest in the first with a solo shot over the center field wall. Cole Secrest (Lamar) followed with a three-run homer in the second, and Preston Faulkner (SE Louisiana) added another solo home run in the third inning.
After a scoreless fourth inning, shortstop Trey Harrington (SE Louisiana) drove in Nathan Gabryszwski (Lamar) with an RBI single. Secrest scored a run in the eighth off an RBI double from Rhett McCall (Lamar), but the Twins managed to add some runs on the bottom of the ninth to tie the game. A scoreless tenth inning allowed for the Cutters to seize the opportunity in the eleventh where they added four more runs.
Brayson Smith (UNO) started on the hill for the Cane Cutters and pitched seven innings, striking out eight batters. Jimmy Dobrash (ULL) took over the next two innings before being relieved by Matt Harrison (Meridian CC) in extras. Bayles moved from center field to replace Harrison in the bottom of the eleventh where he recorded the last two outs of the game.
