July 28, 2005 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Colorado Crush News Release
DENVER - For the fourth consecutive year, the 2005 ArenaBowl Champion Colorado Crush will give football players a chance to earn a spot on its training camp roster when it holds open tryouts on Saturday, December 10 at the South Suburban Sports Dome (6901 S. Peoria, Centennial, CO 80112).
Further details regarding start time, registration fees, etc. will be provided as the event date grows closer.
Crush head coach Mike Dailey and his staff will be scouting the tryouts in search of the next offensive line or defensive lineman, fullback or linebacker, quarterback, wide receiver or defensive back, who can help the Crush in their quest to repeat as AFL champions. Please note that this tryout is not for kickers.
All attending players must be at least 18 years of age and should come dressed in workout attire with shoes appropriate for an indoor turf field. Each attendee will be put through a series of tests to measure speed, strength and agility. This workout will consist of running a 40-yard dash, and then performing a 20-yard shuttle drill, a standing long jump, a bench press with reps of 225 lbs., and position drills. These tests will be followed by a series of offensive and defensive drills.
"The open tryout is a good way for a player to showcase their talents to us," said Dailey. "Anyone who feels they have the tools to play professional football is encouraged to come and show us what they are all about."
This will be the fourth straight year the Crush have held an open tryout, and success is not unprecedented. Former Crush WR/DB Thal Woods was discovered at an open tryout held prior to the team's inaugural season in 2003 and played parts of three seasons with the team.
