
Crush re-sign Peaua, add three rookie free agents

DENVER - The Colorado Crush announced today that rookie free agent fullback/linebacker BJ DEAN, wide receiver TRIANDOS LUKE and wide receiver WILLIE QUINNIE have signed with the club. The Crush also re-signed six-year veteran fullback/linebacker JOHN PEAUA. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
Since the AFL's free agency period began on October 2nd, the Crush have signed 15 players to their 2007 roster.
DEAN (5-11, 246, Florida State) comes to the Crush having participated in training camp with the Baltimore Ravens this past summer. A hard-nosed fullback while at Florida State, he began his collegiate career with the Seminoles as a linebacker. Dean played in 47 games throughout his time at FSU, including 23 starts, and finished with 33 rushes for 95 yards and four touchdowns.
LUKE (5-11, 195, Alabama) is a former 6th round draft choice of the Denver Broncos in the 2004 NFL Draft. He appeared in 11 games with the Broncos recording six catches for 52 and contributed on special teams with 15 kickoff returns for 306 yards, including a 41 yard return vs. Indianapolis in the AFC Wild Card Game. In 2006, Luke attended training camp with the New York Giants. During his time at the University of Alabama, he led the Crimson Tide in receptions in both the 2002 and 2003 seasons.
PEAUA (6-3, 266, Nevada) enters his fourth season with the Crush, after coming off a career season in 2006. Last year, he set new career highs in rushes (29), rushing yards (55) and rushing touchdowns (4) and added 14.5 tackles. For his AFL tenure, Peaua has recorded 64 rushes for 107 yards and nine rushing scores adding 12 receptions for 120 receiving yards and a touchdown. On defensive, he has collared 60.5 tackles, seven pass break-ups, five sacks, four fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles.
QUINNIE (6-2, 180, Alabama-Birmingham) is a veteran receiver having spent time on the practice squads for the Oakland Raiders, Atlanta Falcons and San Diego Chargers. In 2006, he was a member of the Green Bay Packers and Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL. A highly productive receiver and special teams member at UAB from 1999-2002, Quinnie finished his career with the Blazers ranked third in school history in receiving touchdowns, punt returns and punt return yards.
