Colorado Crush News Release

DENVER – The Colorado Crush have placed offensive/defensive lineman Hugh Hunter on injured reserve with a strained left groin, and activated OL/DLs Maurice Anderson and Derrick Pickens from injured reserve, the team announced today. The roster moves leave the Crush with 21 players on the active roster.

Hunter (6-2, 260, Hampton), in his eighth AFL season and second with the Crush, suffered the injury in the Crush’s 66-58 win at Dallas on March 25. Hunter totaled 12.0 tackles and 0.5 sack in the first eight games this season. He has not missed a game since the opening week of 2001 season while with Milwaukee, a span of 67 straight games. The last 54 games have all come under head coach Mike Dailey – 30 with Indiana (2002-03) and 24 with Colorado (2004-present).

Per league rules, Hunter must miss two weeks and thus will be eligible to return to action when the Crush travel to Chicago April 17.

Anderson (6-3, 296, Virginia) appeared in the first four games of this season for the Crush, totaling 1.5 tackles and making a three-yard reception. He was placed on injured reserve on March 9 with an injured finger on his right hand.

Pickens (6-1, 280, Iowa) is in his second season with the Crush, but has yet to appear in an AFL game. He missed the entire 2004 season with a right shoulder injury and has spent the first eight games of this season on injured reserve after hurting his left ankle during training camp while the team was practicing in Las Vegas with the Gladiators.

In an additional roster move, the Crush have waived WR/DB Herman Bell from the practice squad and signed rookie WR/DB Wendall Williams. Williams (5-11, 190) played at the University of Rhode Island from 2000-03 and participated in training camp with the San Francisco 49ers in 2004.
