Columbus Crew SC News Release
COLUMBUS - The Columbus Crew today announced that it will host its inaugural 4v4 Street Soccer Festival at Crew Stadium on Saturday, July 6, 2013. Registration for the tournament begins today at TheCrew.com/StreetSoccer.
The first-ever tournament - held in the parking lot of Crew Stadium - will be open to children and adults, ages eight (8) and older. There will be 14 different age divisions for both males & females: with eight teams per division, and six players per team. Matches will consist of two 10-minute halves, and a one-minute halftime.
Each team is guaranteed to play three games. Registration includes a t-shirt, a ticket to the July 7 Crew match against the Portland Timbers, as well as access to the post-match concert with Irish rock band Flogging Molly. Prior to the July 7 Crew match - also known as Pummel Portland with Flogging Molly presented by CD 102.5 - participating Street Soccer Festival teams will be recognized in a special on-field ceremony.
From May 13 through June 7, interested teams can register at an "early bird" full-team price of $222. After June 7, the price per team increases to $242. The registration deadline for the tournament is July 3, 2013.
Registration details and more information on the tournament - which features food, music, Crew merchandise, games and other activities for the family - can be found on the tournament's main page at TheCrew.com/StreetSoccer.
