CPIFL Names Players of the Week
April 24, 2013 - Champions Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL) News Release
Lawrence, KS. - A pair of Bloomington Edge players and, for the fourth consecutive week, a player from the Kansas City Renegades has been named Champions Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL) Players of the Week. The players are being recognized for the performance in Week 7 of the CPIFL season.
Offensive Player of the Week: Andre Raymond, Bloomington Edge
Raymond averaged 6.7 yards per carry in the Edge's 44-39 victory over Oklahoma. Raymond finished the game with 80 yards on the ground and two rushing touchdowns. He added two receptions for 11 yards and another touchdown in the ballgame. Raymond is second in the IFL in rushing touchdowns with 8. The Edge hit the road again and travels to Topeka, KS for a battle with the Koyotes in Week 8.
Defensive Player of the Week: Donta Moore, Kansas City Renegades
Moore and the Renegades defense continued their impressive play. The Renegades have won four consecutive games after starting the year 0-2. In Week 7 vs. Mid.-Missouri, Moore recorded three interceptions and three tackles in the 38-24 victory. Moore's final interception came when KC was clinging to a seven point lead. Moore returned the interception 41-yards for the touchdown sealing the victory. Kansas City goes for six wins in a row as they welcome Salina to Kemper Arena on Saturday.
Special Teams Player of the Week: LaVaughn Macon, Bloomington Edge
Macon returned six kickoffs for 100 yards and a blocked field goal 28 yards for a touchdown in the Edge victory. This is the second time this season that Macon has been recognized as Special Teams Player of the Week. Macon now leads the CPIFL in all-purpose yards with 929.
The CPIFL starts the second half of the season on Friday night with Oklahoma travelling to Lincoln. On Saturday, Wichita travels to Mid.-Missouri, Kansas hosts Bloomington, Omaha visits Sioux City, and Salina visits Kansas City.
