Countdown to Face-Off
April 24, 2009 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Tied at two games apiece, the Kalamazoo Wings and Fort Wayne Komets return to Allen County Memorial Coliseum for game five of the best-of-seven Turner Cup Semi-Finals. With the home team winning each of the four previous contests, the series in essence becomes a best-of three series.
Spectacular between the pipes, Joel Martin sparked the K-Wings in game four stoning 51 Komet shots en route to a 2-0 victory to even up the series. Looking for their first lead of the series, Kalamazoo would love to gain it tonight, as the series heads back to Wings Stadium tomorrow for game six.
Returning home, the Komets are hopeful to regain the series lead. Ending the regular season on an eight-game home winning streak, Fort Wayne has continued their winning ways in the playoffs, winning both of their contests at Allen County Memorial Coliseum.

Free Willy
Activated off the K-Wings 45-Day Injured Reserve, forward Tyler Willis returned to the K-Wings line-up for game four last Wednesday. In total Willis missed 19 games due to injury, including playoffs during his time on the IR.
Finicky in the First
Scoring goals in the first period hasn't been an easy thing to do in this series. Entering tonight, the K-Wings have scored once through four games in the first period, while surrendering only a single goal during that same time span.
Show Stopper
Goaltender Joel Martin was brilliant in game four of the series. Martin, who stopped 51 shots, earned his first shutout of the season and his fourth in 28 playoff appearances.
Stopping a Trend
While the K-Wings are looking to become the first road team to win in this series, they are also looking to snap a streak. Dating back to the 2006-07 season, the K-Wings have dropped their last six road playoff games.
