Cougars win on road 20-11 over Orlando Sharks

Stockton, CA - Nov. 21, 2007 - The California Cougars get three two-point goals from forward Enrique Tovar, his second of the season, en route to their runaway win over the Orlando Sharks, 20-11 at Amway Arena in downtown Arena.

Qeeks scored twice in the opening half of the game. His first goal came during the Cougars scoring onslaught. California opened the first quarter with Gordon Chin starting things off after an assist by Semir Mesanovic. Then it was Nelson Sananta finding the net on an unassisted shot to make it 4-0. The scoring didn't stop there. The Cougars kept the offensive streak going with Tovar's first of the night, young defender Evan McNeley came through with the assist. The four straight goal performance was finished by Naldo as he hit his third goal of the year. The Cougars had a 8-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Sharks marched right back and thrilled the home crowd with three unanswered goals. J.P. Rodrigues started things in the second with his first of three goals scored. He was followed almost immediately by Chris Cerroni and Marcelo Santos. Assists on both goals credited to Connally Edozien and Simba Harris respectively.

Orlando closed the 8-0 gap to 8-6 until Qeeks found the net again. His second score put the Cougars back in control ending into the end of the first half, the big Captain Chris Handsor helped out with the assist.

The Cougars didn't look back once the third quarter started. Craig Scheer, Kupono Low, Handsor and Naldo all scored in the third quarter. Naldo finished the game with five points for second time this season. Handsor finished with four. Low's first goal in the Major Indoor Soccer League came off an assist by fellow rookie Naldo. Brian Farber assisted Naldo on his second score.

Rodrigues scored the only goal for the Sharks in the third, and their lone score in the fourth. His final goal was of the three-point variety. The Cougars kept the pressure on throughout the second half with Tovar scoring for the third time on short chip shot goal in the fourth. The Cougars settle for 10 goals on the night, against five in the game for the Sharks.

Sanaldo was simply... Super. He saved a total of 15 saves against 24 shots faced. The Cougars did not miss their opportunities in this game. They found the net 10 times out of 24 shots on goal. The Sharks defense was slightly better with nine blocks, against the Cougars' six. The score would have been extremely out of hand had Orlando not stopped shots when they did. Goalkeeper Paul Nagy had eight saves out of the total 24 shots faced.
