December 28, 2010 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL)
California Cougars News Release
The California Cougars circled the wagons for what was a must win in front of a season-high crowd of nearly 1300 as they defeated PASL league leaders and defending champions, the San Diego Sockers, 9-8 with an overtime goal by Uriel Robledo.
The Cougars started off in an early hole, as San Diego scored four unanswered goals, including two by Kraig Chiles. From that point on the Cougars outplayed San Diego, outscoring the Sockers 4-1 in the 2nd period, led by two goals by Enrique Tovar. It was a back and forth affair in the 2nd half as the Cougars and Sockers traded goals. San Diego took a 7-5 lead into the 3rd quarter only to see the Cougars come back with three 4th quarter goals by Enrique Tovar, Antonio Sutton and Jorge Martinez
That sent the game into overtime tied at eight, where Uriel Robledo ended things barely a minute into sudden death, his only goal of the game. The win gives the Cougars a 1-6 record in the PASL, as San Diego goes to 6-2.
The Cougars are next in action on Sunday, January 9th at 3:05 pm with their "Pack the House" game vs. Eastern Division Leaders Cincinnati. All General Admission, Goal Reserve and Upper Gallery seats are $7. For tickets call 209-373-1700.
