Cougars look for win on Brian Farber Bobblehead Night

STOCKTON, Calif. - Feb. 25, 2009 - The Professional Arena Soccer League Western Division champion Stockton Cougars (11-4 PASL-Pro, 13-6 Overall) host the last place Wenatchee Fire F.C. (2-11 PASL-Pro, 2-12 Overall) on Thursday night at Stockton Arena.

The first 1,000 kids in attendance will receive a limited edition Brian Farber bobblehead doll. The match kicks off at 7:15PM and doors open at 6:00PM.

Thursday's match will feature both Farber's bobblehead giveaway and the naming of the new "Ultimate Cougar" award winner. The award - presented to a Cougars player - recognizes athletic achievement, community outreach, leadership and overall excellence on and off the field. This season marks the third consecutive time that the award has been presented by the Cougars' front office. Previous award winners include Ryan Hall (2006-07 season) and Evan McNeley (2007-08 season).

The Cougars locked up their first ever division title on February 21 with an 18-12 win against the Denver Dynamite. Head coach Bernie Lilavois scored a season high nine points in the match. He tallied six goals and three assists in the win and now leads his team with 63 points in 14 PASL-Pro games. Farber netted three goals in the final road win of Stockton's season. He leads the club with 43 goals in all games played this year.

The February 21 win against Denver clinched not only the Western Division, but also a first round by in the PASL-Pro Championship Tournament. The six team tournament will be played at Stockton Arena between March 13, 14 and 15. The Cougars will play a yet-to-be-determined opponent on March 14. The tentative kick off time is set for 7:30PM.

Wenatchee sits at the bottom of the Western Division and is coming off two difficult matches in Canada. They followed their 22-2 loss in Calgary on Saturday with an 18-2 drubbing against Saskatoon on Sunday.
