Cougars complete trade, add Williams to roster
Stockton, CA - Dec. 13, 2007 - The California Cougars, of the Major Indoor Soccer League, announce the acquisition of forward Lee Williams as part of a trade with La Raza de Monterrey. Monterrey receives future draft considerations from California in exchange for the young forward.
"He adds another big strong target to our roster that defenders will have a tough time marking," said Cougars head coach Bernie Lilavois. "The trade is good for both clubs. We get a young player who we can mold for the future and Monterrey gets a future player from us. It took longer than anticipated because Monterrey really took a long hard look at adding him to their roster. I'm glad we have him here."
"He will be added immediately to our active roster and will be playing with the Pumas to get shifts and until his fitness level is up."
The Stockton Pumas are the Cougars' official minor league affiliate. Like the Cougars, the Pumas make Stockton Arena their home building. Puma home games are played just two hours before the start of Cougars games.
The red hot Cougars host the Baltimore Blast Saturday, December 15 at 7:15PM. California has won three straight games, including a 14-6 defeat of Monterrey last Sunday night at Stockton Arena. The Blast plays La Raza Thursday night in Mexico, and then makes the trip to Stockton Arena for Saturday's game. Tickets to Saturday's game are available by calling (209) 373-1550 or by visiting www.californiacougars.net.
