California Cougars News Release

(STOCKTON, CALIF., JANUARY 25, 2007) - The California Cougars announced today that the club has suspended forward Bernie Lilavois for comments detrimental to the team in reference to statements made to the media regarding the team's performance in their loss to the Chicago Storm on Wednesday. He will serve his team mandated suspension on Saturday when the Cougars return home to play the Milwaukee Wave.

The team will be without the veteran forward's services when they make their road trip to Milwaukee tomorrow due to a league mandated suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards.

Lilavois is currently leading the team, and tied for fourth in the MISL, in points with 39 and is leading the League in assists with 17. With his two-point goal in last night's loss, Lilavois is three points short of 900 points scored in this 13-year indoor soccer career.

The Cougars also announced the League mandated one game suspension of forward Vicente Figueroa. Figueroa was hit with a red card towards the end of Wednesday night's game. The Cougars forward is tied with Lilavois for the team lead and for fourth in the MISL in points. Figueroa currently leads the League in 3-point goals with five.
