Cottonmouths Defeat RiverHawks to Even Series; Game Three Sunday in Augusta

Augusta RiverHawks News Release

They say that there is nothing more difficult than eliminating a playoff opponent on their own home ice. That adage could not be truer than Saturday night as the Columbus Cottonmouths stormed back in the best-of-three semi-final series with a 7-1 victory over the Augusta RiverHawks, evening the series at one game apiece.

The series returns to Augusta and the James Brown Arena for the third and deciding game Sunday, April 10th at 7:30pm. It marks the second consecutive series where the RiverHawks have won the first game, only to fall the next night in Game Two.

After a reasonably competitive first period that saw the Cottonmouths take a 2-1 lead off of two goals from defenseman Kyle Lundale and a goal from RiverHawks' forward Ryan Olidis, the Cottonmouths exploded in the second period scoring five unanswered goals.

Lundale would complete the hat trick, as the Cottonmouths would chase RiverHawks' goaltender Jon Olthuis to the bench after allowing four goals on just 17 shots after shutting out the Cottonmouths in Game One. In addition to Lundale's hat trick, forward Darryl Moore starred offensively for the Cottonmouths scoring a goal and adding three assists.

The RiverHawks would add a goal in the third period, as Olidis would pick up his second point of the night setting up Neil Graham, but a comeback would not be in the cards for Augusta.

Tickets for Sunday's Game Three will be available from the James Brown Arena box office in the morning. The puck will drop at 7:30pm. Fans can find out all the information on the playoffs as it becomes available at www.augustariverhawks.com or by calling 706-993-2645 or 1-877-4AUG-TIX.
