New York Cosmos News Release

NEW YORK (Aug. 13, 2015) - The New York Cosmos announced today that the club will host a doubleheader on Tuesday, September 22 at Hofstra University's Shuart Stadium. The Cosmos will take on the Ottawa Fury, with the game to be followed by a matchup between Colombia and Mexico legends.

Former Mexican and Colombian national team legends such as Carlos Valderrama, Tino Asprilla, Adolfo "El tren" Valencia, Jared Borgetti, Jorge Campos and Luis Hernandez will be among the many stars featured as the Cosmos celebrate Hispanic Heritage Night at Shuart Stadium.

Campos collected 130 caps for Mexico and along with Borgetti and Hernandez helped El Tri capture the FIFA Confederations Cup in 1999 with a 4-3 over Ronaldinho's Brazil, the reigning champions, in Mexico City.

The legendary Valderrama is the most capped player in Colombian history and earned Copa América MVP and South American Footballer of the Year honors in 1987. He was also named to the FIFA 100 in 2004, a list of the 'greatest living footballers' chosen by Pelé to celebrate the 100th anniversary of FIFA.

Along with Valderrama, Asprilla and Valencia were members of an imposing Colombian national team throughout the 1990s.

The Cosmos' game against Fury FC will be moved from 7:30 to 7 p.m. ET to accommodate the doubleheader.

Tickets go on sale to the general public today, Thursday Aug. 13, at 2 p.m. ET and start at $25.

Current Cosmos plan holders can purchase additional tickets for a discount during a special presale between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. ET.

Premium seat packages, which include a meet and greet opportunity with select Colombia and Mexico legends, will also be available.
