
Corsi and Brennan win TELUS player of the week awards

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, November 12, 2007 - Halifax Mooseheads forward Peter-James Corsi and St. John's Fog Devils defenseman T.J. Brennan today were named the TELUS offensive and defensive players of the week for the period extending from November 5 to 11.
In four Mooseheads wins, Corsi scored nine goals, including an astonishing three game-winners, and added one assist. He enjoyed his best outing of the week on Saturday as he scored four goals against his former team, the Val-d'Or Foreurs, in a 10-2 romp. It was his first hat-trick since the 2004-05 season. His second three-goal game would come less than twenty-four hours later in a 6-5 overtime win over the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. Corsi has fifteen goals in twenty-two games so far this season.
Claude Giroux (5-3-8) of Gatineau, Francis Paré (4-3-7) of Chicoutimi and Mathieu Perreault (4-2-6) of Acadie-Bathurst were also considered.
The defensive player of the week award goes to Fog Devils defenseman T.J. Brennan. In two games, Brennan scored one goal and assisted on four others while maintaining a +2 rating. He played his best game of the week on Friday, collecting four points in an 8-2 victory over the Lewiston MAINEiacs. Brennan was named the game's third star. The Fog Devils have won eight of their last ten games that have failed to reach overtime.
Goaltenders Timo Pielmeier (2-1-1; 125 MIN; 1.44 GAA; .954 SAV %) of St. John's and Kevin Desfossés (3-2-1; 179 MIN; 1.67 GAA; .933 SAV %) of Quebec as well as defenseman Sébastien Bernier (0-3-3; +4) of Gatineau were also considered.
