Published on May 7, 2009 under National Lacrosse League (NLL) News Release
The National Lacrosse League has announced that Calgary Roughnecks head coach Troy Cordingley is the winner of the Les Bartley Award for the 2009 season, presented to the Head Coach of the Year. Cordingley led the Roughnecks to a league-best 12-4 regular season record and the top overall seed in the 2009 NLL Playoffs. Calgary allowed the fewest goals in the league this season (167) and compiled an impressive 7-1 record in road games during the 2009 regular season.
Cordingley is in his second season as head coach of the Roughnecks. He previously served as an assistant coach with the Buffalo Bandits, and played most of his nine year playing career in Buffalo, winning two championships (1993 & 1996). He is seeking the first championship of his professional coaching career, and Calgary hopes to take a step closer to a championship as they host San Jose in the West Division Final on Saturday, May 9th at 9pm Eastern.
