Connie Brown and Doran Yilla Receive UIF Honors

The Evansville BlueCats of the United Indoor Football League is excited to announce that two players have received postseason honors from the league.
BlueCats defensive back and linebacker Connie Brown has received a pair of awards. Brown has been chosen as the UIF's Defensive Player of the Year and the UIF's Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Connie Brown led the league with 114 tackles this season, setting a new BlueCats and UIF record for tackles in a season. Earlier this season, Brown received the Defensive Player of the Week Award for his performance in the Week 17 game against the Lexington Horsemen back on July 9th. Brown finished the season with 114 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 2 quarterback hurries, 8 pass break ups, and 3 interceptions for a team high 55 interception return yards.
Also receiving league honors for the 2005 season is BlueCats offensive lineman Doran Yilla, who was named to the 2005 United Indoor Football All-Star team. Yilla just completed his second season with the BlueCats and started at guard in every game this season. Yilla is originally from Houston, Texas and attended Western Illinois University where he received All-Conference honors twice.
