Connellsville, Pennsylvania to Host Federal Hockey League Game

The Federal Hockey League is proud to announce that the league has agreed with The Ice Mine of Connellsville, Pennsylvania to bring a regular season neutral site contest to the facility. The game will be played on Saturday, March 22nd and will pit the Danville Dashers against the Watertown Privateers. The puck drops at 7:05 PM

The Federal Hockey League in its fourth season of operation is seeking to expand its footprint and develop new markets. On Wednesday, the league announced another neutral site game which will take place on March 1st in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Connellsville, Pennsylvania is located just over 50 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. The town population is just over 7,600, while Fayette County as a whole is 136,000. The immediate Connellsville School District which covers the neighboring towns has a population of 38,000.

The Ice Mine is the home to the Washington & Jefferson College ACHA Division I hockey team. It is also the host to the Ice Miners youth hockey program and Ice Miners Amateur Hockey Association. The facility features an Olympic size ice surface, full gym, a roller rink, synthetic ice, training room, and full size locker room.

The Ice Mine has been the host to numerous shows and events. Previously it has featured concerts, professional wrestling, and various hockey programs. Capacity in the arena is over 4,000.

Federal Hockey League Vice Commissioner, Andrew Richards commented, "We are enthused by the partnership we have developed with The Ice Mine. The operators of the facility put together a great package and opportunity for the Federal Hockey League to be successful. We look forward to the event and the future potential of Western Pennsylvania."

Tickets for the event are $10 and can be purchased by calling 724-626-4423. The event also will offer discounted tickets at $8 per ticket for groups of 20 or more.
