Bakersfield Condors News Release

BAKERSFIELD Calif. -The Bakersfield Condors, host of the 2010-11 ECHL All-Star Classic, today announced the signing of three players for the 2010-11 season. C Adam Naglich returns from last season's squad, D Jay Cascalenda has been signed and G Peter Hirsch returns to Condorstown for a second stint with the club. The announcement was made by Head Coach Marty Raymond.

Naglich, 26, had a standout rookie season with the Condors in 2009-10, leading all first year players on the team in goals, assists and points. He tied for 4th on the team in goals (16) and 6th in points (39), overall, while missing just three games. He added five points (1g-4a) while playing in all 10 of the Condors Kelly Cup Playoff games. The Las Vegas native played four seasons at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, totaling 63 points (23g-40a) in 145 career games.

"With the fans we have and the community support we receive, it was a no-brainer to return," said Naglich. "And any time you have a season like we did last year, and win a division championship but lose in the second round it leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. So we'll be focused to go further this season."

What Marty says:

"Naglich was an impact player as a rookie and will be an impact player for us this season as well. He is a smart center, has great hockey sense and is a great competitor and it was a must to have him back."

Hirsch, 31, first played with the Condors in 2003-04, their first season in the ECHL, appearing in 14 games. His 2.70 goals against average that season stands as the 4th best in team history, while his .904 save percentage from that season ranks tied for 6th. The Copenhagen, Denmark, native has spent the rest of his entire career in Europe, playing primarily in the Swedish Elite League and the Danish League, where he claimed a 2004 and 2005 Danish Cup Championship.

He won an Elite Ice Hockey League (Great Britain) regular season championship last season with the Covington Blaze, posting a 2.86 GAA and .917 save percentage, ranking 3rd in the league in both categories, and a .940 save percentage in three playoff games. He added a remarkable seven assists from between the pipes and was a First Team All-EIHL selection as well. Hirsch has also represented Denmark on the International stage at the World Championships 10 times, nine of which he served as his team's top goaltender, and won two medals.

"I'm very happy to be back with the Condors and looking forward to being a part of a great organization once again," said Hirsch. "I didn't think twice when Marty asked me to come back, and hopefully I can contribute to a great season. I can't wait to meet everybody and get started."

What Marty says:

"We're always looking for a premier goaltender and we believe Peter is that kind of guy. He won a regular season championship last year in a competitive league and we hope he can duplicate that here in Bakersfield."

Cascalenda, 25, spent his rookie season in 2009-10 with the South Carolina Stingrays, posting seven points (2g-5a) in 42 contests. The West St. Paul, Minnesota, native played four seasons at the University of Minnesota - Duluth, where he was a teammate of last season's Condors Nick Kemp and MacGregor Sharp. He notched 10 points (1g-9a) and 131 penalty minutes in 127 games for the Bulldogs.

What Marty says:

"Jay is a very good skating defenseman who is strong defensively. His job will be to play against the best lines of opposing teams every night and should do great in a shut-down role."
