Kansas City Command News Release

KANSAS CITY - The Kansas City Command has assigned former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Samie Parker (5-11, 185) to its 2012 roster. Parker spent four years with Chiefs after being drafted out of the University of Oregon in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft.

While with the Chiefs, Parker totaled 110 receptions for 1,529 yards and seven touchdowns. After his time in Kansas City, he had stints with the Denver Broncos, Carolina Panthers, Seattle Seahawks, and AFC West rival Oakland Raiders at the tail end of his NFL career. After his tenure in the NFL, Parker helped the United Football League's Las Vegas Locomotives win two consecutive championships (2009, 2010).

"I'm excited to sign a player like Samie," Command head coach Danton Barto said. "His experience and ability will be a valuable asset to this receiving core."

Parker is no stranger to the Arena Football League. In 2010, he started 11 games for the Chicago Rush, catching 78 passes for 1,135 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Joining Parker is newly assigned linebacker Tressor Baptiste (6-0, 237), who signed with the Chicago Bears in the 2011 offseason. The former Texas A&M Kingsville Javelina played an integral part in a defense that led the nation and set a school record for fewest rushing yards allowed per game. Baptiste earned a number of accolades in 2010, including Lone Star Conference South Division Linebacker of the Year, first-team American Football Coaches Association All-American, second-team Daktronics All-American, and third-team AP Little All-American. He recorded 66 tackles on the year and led the team with eight total tackles for loss.
